My name is John Winter. Why did I go with Red Rocket? Caroline and I agreed to downsize from a house into a unit and we saw the unit’s vibrance at Springwood which was being marketed by Red Rocket. We thought, well, they can sell our house as well.
My experience has always been in real estate, in development and construction finance and had in fact built couple homes on my own and am looking forward to the unit’s vibrance because that’s the sort of project that was my bread and butter in finance.
Indeed, real estate agents were my bread and butter too. I have dealt with a lot of real estate agents over the years. Red Rocket is the best real estate agency that I’ve dealt with unequivocally. I think they’re the best simply because of the personalised service that we got from Rajen, in particular, his attention to detail.
I was not concerned about the time factor because I knew that properties around our area were selling very quickly. I figured it will take about a week to two weeks. In fact, it took half an hour and that’s a fact! I rang Rajen to see if he should put the property on the market, say next week and he said “Look, I have half a dozen people on the books that I have been showing properties to who may like yours, so tomorrow morning I’ll come around. Saturday morning, I’ll come around, bring them between 11 and 11:30, if you can disappear that’s fine.” So we did. After that, he rang and said you can come home now. He had four expressions of interest.
On Monday we signed the contract. Quicker than we thought, quicker than we thought possible. I anticipated $475,000 or $480,000 maybe. The price that the agent listed he started at $499,000 plus. I thought well good luck with that. So I did think it was a bit high and was above the price we were asking. The selling price was $508,000 and it set a record in the street!
The reason why I was happy to pay our agent was that it was negotiated and it was always the agreement that we would pay our agent what we thought our agent was worth for selling the property. As it turned out, he was worth full whack and I’m happy for him. He did show us a guarantee on a commission, no other agent gave us a guarantee. Yet he agreed and suggested that we pay what we thought his work was worth. He was only meant to be paid until the job was finished. It turns out as advertising goes, we weren’t asked for any advertising money. The reason I know we got a great price was market research, having been in the industry, knowing the position we were in. We achieved a bit better than that.
